Content
In the seminar, we adress topics of current economic policy debates from a scientific perspective. Our pool includes the following topics:
- Minimum wage
- Discrimination at the work place
- Pension reforms
- Migration and labour markets
- Active labor market policies
- Unemployment insurance
- Hartz reforms
- Inheritance tax reforms
- Income and wealth taxes
- Unemployment sanctions and job search
Topics are assigned based on submitted preferences . You receive reading recommendations for your assigned topic to facilitate scientific access to the literature in the field. Based on this recommendation, you start an independent literature research for which you will be prepared in our courses on scientific working.
At the end of the seminar, we expect a written term paper and a presentation that you can choose to do in English or German. In both submissions, you should show that you have recognized and understood the economic problem, that you are able to narrow down the relevant literature and to identify possible problems in the authors' approaches. The seminar aims at preparing you for your bachelor and master thesis.
